Natural Curl 自然捲
I was introduced to 自然捲(zi ran juan) whilst on a 2day trip to the capital of Taiwan, Taipei. 自然捲 means natural curl.
I vividly remember the band 自然捲 gave a breath taking live performance at the 女巫店 WitchHouse. It was a brilliant performance, I was moved by the tunes & atmosphere conjured that I bought their album C'est La Vie on the spot.
Their tunes are simple, contemporary, but not lacking originality. They tend to bring a sense of playfulness to their sounds & lyrics. Definitely makes a relaxing listening.
I like these sketches of the 2 main artists on the band.
One thing both me and the other friend who bought the album have come to agree is that the live performance was filled with much 'umph' & 'essence' that the album lacked the ability to capture. Oh well, suppose that is why they have live performances right?
Listening to this album now brings back fun memories with my crazy buddies in Hong Kong. The whirlwind trip was dubbed the 'Crazy Taipei' trip for the mad schedule.
