A Streak of Warmth

British Summer Time has gone back to Greenwich Mean Time. The clock has been adjusted in the U.K. yesterday. The day starts to get dark earlier each day as Autumn sneaks towards it's height and Winter inches nearer.

The weather gets chillier and grey skies more dominant. Am I at all prepared for the winter in the U.K.? I do wonder. Then again, it shouldn't matter much if I just contend myself with the busy workload and hectic commuting. I have afterall spent 3 winters in this country in the past.

Commuting on the DLR and underground can get rather stressful because of the crowd during the rush hours. But this morning, a kind gentleman made my morning that much better. The gesture was simple but it warmed my heart. Upon alighting the DLR, he gave way with a very sincere smile - a motion that gestured "go on ahead, ladies first". It made my day that much better because his simple kind gesture put a smile on my face.

In this mad mad city, I think there should be more such courteous people. If only!

Crazy Work Week

It is the 6th week into this new job and I have been piled under work. Sometimes I do wonder if it is me being new or if it is the volume of work. I do feel exhausted at the end of everyday of this week.

Good thing is that I have visitors from home - The Munch Queen & The TV King. They help me to unwind by taking my mind off work. It's really nice to have friends visiting cause there's loads of nonsense stuff that you can talk about.

Then again, it is Friday, so... seize the weekend!!!

Unikko

This is a pretty Marimekko design. It is named the Unikko range. My favourite is the red coloured prints. I love it for its bold colours and simple design.

Marimekko has been listed in Elle Decoration's top 7 Nordic design stockists. I think it is rather cool!

I.C.E.

A simple yet brilliant idea that could save your life in the case of an emergency.

"A Cambridge-based paramedic has launched a national campaign with Vodafone to encourage people to store emergency contact details in their mobile phones.

Bob Brotchie, a clinical team leader for the East Anglian Ambulance NHS Trust, hatched the plan last year after struggling to get contact details from shocked or injured patients.

By entering the acronym ICE – for In Case of Emergency – into the mobile’s phone book, users can log the name and number of someone who should be contacted in an emergency.

The idea follows research carried out by Vodafone that shows more than 75 per cent of people carry no details of who they would like telephoned following a serious accident..."

East Anglian Ambulance NHS

I suppose it will stay a brilliant and good idea until some baddie decides to abuse it! Oh well, I shouldn't think negatively should I?

Lifehacking your grocery list

I stumbled upon this interesting article yesterday - Lifehacking your grocery list.

The reason this article caught my eye was because I have been thinking about better ways to do groceries and prepare dinners. Well, it is afterall part of the DDA division of jobs.

After going through the article, I am not absolutely convinced that what I have been doing so far is going to improve if I followed the prescribed method. Hmmm... anyone with better ideas?

Why do I think it is not going to help me? Suppose it is an effort to establish and record all that is described, and probably towards the midst of the cycle I might just abandon it! Then again, I do ponder if I would be so disciplined to do it in order to make more time for myself?

London Bridge

View of the all famous but most simple looking London Bridge. Yes, most foreigners would usually mistake Tower Bridge for London Bridge as the Tower Bridge is much more grand in design.

Extraordinary recipes

To be able to work for Google, one would expect tonnes of creativity & skills. That not only applies to their technology staff apparently. It also applies to their chefs!

Check how they make their selection for in house chefs.

We are connected!!!

Finally! At long last!!!

We've been connected again. We are alive!!! Muahahahahha...

I know it sounds silly, but I felt retardedly lost without an internet connection at home since moving into the new flat. I am utterly happy to be connected again!
