May Hail
It is rather bizarre.
Hail in February is not uncommon in London, but hail in the end of May is totally out of order. Nature is showing odd signs. This maybe is a sign of severe global warming effects?

Making Room
After a frantic week at work, the DDA settles for a lazy long weekend. Monday is the May bank holiday. After the long weekend, it is back to the crazy office. She's so not looking forward to Monday as it would mark the end of the long weekend.
Today started very late. But the DDA and the Finn are making some pretty good progress with making the spare room ready for a new tenant in the flat - DDA's sister.
Despite that it is a two bedroom flat, it is proving to be rather small. Or perhaps there is not enough smart storage spaces. The DDA and the Finn finds it frustrating. Nevertheless it also tests the creative side of their brains.
Well, it really depends on how you see this, re-arranging and improving layout of furniture in the flat can be a good past-time!

Monsters Rock
Eurovision is an annual singing contest. Participants come from each and every European country, and the winner is chosen not by a panel of judges sitting in the audience, but rather by television voters all over Europe.
This year, the Eurovision singing contest that is usually associated with attracting an older generation audience yesterday has changed the trend. Yes, the Finn and the DDA were among millions of television viewers watching this almost bizarre contest. Believe it or not, some contestants looked like they came from some long lost era, and some were just singing almost out of tune.
This is a contest where you perferm on a European level, some countries take the trouble to send their best, some can't be bothered, , some sent seducing female singers, some wanted to make a joke. Germany perhaps was one of those which took to the 4th category, they sent a team all dressed up in cowboy attire performing a country song!
However the main reason that attracted the DDA and the Finn to watch this contest were the Finnish contestants. Ok, maybe the DDA and the Finn are boring people, but you should check these guys out, they call the band Lordi. They are a rock band that dress themselves up like monsters, the BBC commentator made a remark that they look like klingons and orcs out of fantasy movies.
Monsters or not, they seemed to have rocked the Eurovision last night and made a huge impression on European viewers that they got the highest votes, thus winning the contest.

The Swan Family
They've finally appeared!
Spotted around 19:00 today, they were swimming in the docks as a family now. The cob in the front leading the cygnets, the pen in the back keeping an eye.
The daddy swan is so proud, he stretched its wings beside the cygnets. The mummy swan patiently following the cygnets, always keeping an eye on them.
What a beautiful family!

Prime Meridian
Sunday was a rather spontaneously planned day. The DDA and her husband initially set out to do some rug and duvet laundry at the commercial laundrette.
The laundrette was not open. Typical!
So the DDA wanted to head out to get a substitute rug while the dirty one awaits washing. Cutty Sark - Maritime Greenwich was the destination as they usually have a local market every Sunday. After going through the market without any success in securing a suitably priced rug, the husband suggested a visit to the Royal Observatory to see the Prime Meridian.
It turned out to be an eye opening experience.

Kuala Lumpur - 101° 42' East

Helsinki - 25° 00' East

Signs of Maturity
Nothing gives a person more shock than to discover strands of white hair on his/her crown.
It's not the end of the world. No.
But...is the body trying to tell you something? Is this a sign? What do you do with the hair? Will there be more? How fast do they develop and appear? What do your parents think now that you start to grow white hair too? What does your husband think now that white hair appears on your crown? What do your friends think?!!!

First Freecycle Offer
The DDA is feeling rather happy for having offered something to the Freecycle Network and successfully given it away!
She gave away a spare steam iron which the husband used to own. It's been sitting in the storage area for a 'millenium', finally it's been cleared out in the most environmentally friendly & efficient way.
The DDA was also pleasantly surprised when the Freecycle member who came to pick up the iron offered a bunch of tulips in return to say thanks. Now isn't that very sweet?!

This puts a wide smile on the DDA's face.
