Saree Shopping

Over the weekend the DDA went Saree shopping. It requires certain skills to do Saree shopping.

You go up and down the highstreet that sells Asian clothing/textile to compare the materials on offer, and compare the price range. The DDA and her friend spent half a day on the shopping. Yes, you're tired even before you make your purchase!

To prepare the Saree or Shalwar Kameez:

1. Decide on the desired fabric and style
2. Before making your purchase, locate a tailor to agree to make the blouse and get the fall of the saree sewn
3. Find a matching slip that goes underneath the saree (you wear this like an under-skirt)

That is just the start of the dressing up process. You'll then have to find matching bracelets, and jewellery to make the outfit whole.

What is this Saree shopping all about? An Asian (Indian/Muslim) wedding to attend in 3-4 weeks' time!

Blueberry Cake Weekend

The DDA started her new job just Monday pass, marking the end of the first week. Come next week, commences a second week. Time slips away when you are busy.

Last weekend was a beautiful weekend spent with friends at the Greenwich Park. The food for picnic was simple, but the friends and the dessert made it a picnic to remember.

There were a party of 7 for picnic at the park - 3 Italians, 2 Japanese, 1 Finnish, and 1 Malaysian. The dessert was an unassuming 'Plum Traybake'.

The 2 Japanese friends are Machiko and Rena, who resides in Penang. Stefania is the connection between the DDA and the other two Italians. The rest is pretty easy to figure out.

Since last week's successful Plum Traybake, the DDA decided to give another try at the same cake with a different fruit. So this week is Blueberry cake weekend - a weekend to rest and relax. Why not? Since it's raining so hard outside...

Primrose Hill

Today is a day of meeting with old friends and exploration for the DDA. It involved a lot of walking, but it was a nice day to be walking as there was a beautiful breeze with an average temperature of 21°.

Together with her two friends, one an Ikebana artist, another a landscape architect in training, the DDA went on a walk that took the route of the following: Finchley Road - Hampstead - Belsize Park - Primrose Hill and ended at Swiss Cottage.

It was an exceedingly pleasant way to spend a day off work. Exploring NW3 on foot reminds the DDA that NW3 is one of her favourite places in London.
