Lost and Found

Yes, it is kinda silly to be posting about a past issue. But this incident came too shocking that the DDA has to put it in words.

The Finn & the DDA lunched at the Wetherspoons in Angel last Sunday. It offers pretty good deals for pub grub and they have nice cider too!

The crowd in the pub were mostly middle aged and above. With only a few younger customers. Most of the tables were occupied in pairs or more than 2 people. Except for one lonely looking old man who just sat there alone, with no drink on the table.

The Finn ordered a cottage pie, the DDA a breaded plaice with chips. After gulping down the yummy food, they were ready to head off for some light shopping. In the haste to get out of the pub, the Finn had forgotten his pair of gloves at the table, but did not realise until they were almost heading out of the doors. They turned back, then headed towards the table they occupied earlier to check.

The gloves were nowhere to be found! They checked the table top, they checked under the table, they checked the surrounding of the table... but no sign of the gloves!!!

So they headed to the bar to check with the barman, but nobody saw anything when they cleared the table. The Finn went to check the men's as he might have dropped them there accidentally? But they just couldn't find it.

Not giving up, they both went to check at the table again as a pair of gloves wouldn't have just walked away on their own. The DDA remembered distinctly passing the gloves to the Finn just before leaving the table. So they looked harder this time. And next thing they know, a few ladies sitting around the corner from them spoke silently, barely mouthing the words.

Lady : "have you lost something?"
DDA : "yes, a pair of Men's gloves"
Lady : using her eyes and a light movement of her finger directing our gaze to the strange lone old man seated opposite the table the Finn & the DDA occupied earlier "he's got them!"
DDA : in shock "him?!!!" and gave an "oh dear me!" expression to the very kind lady

At that point the old man was just trying his best to avoid any eye contact at all. Just ignoring what was happening in front of him. The Finn and the DDA were just speechless and didn't know what to do. So feeling that they have nothing to loose, the DDA just approached the old man.

DDA : "excuse me sir, would you have happen to see a pair of men's gloves left on the table across there?"
Old Man : appearing stunned to have been spoken to, and after a slight pondering started to point in the opposite direction from him. it actually looked like he was pointing at the opposite table.
DDA : "did you mean they were on the table?"
Old Man : stood up and reached across to the jacket hanging on the chair opposite him, and fished out the pair of gloves!!!

The gloves were recovered thanks to the very helpful ladies sat around the corner! Surely they must have felt the same as the DDA & the Finn when they saw the old man kidnapping the pair of gloves... SHOCK!

What an unbelievable thing indeed, the sight of an dishonest old man trying hard to hide his guilt.

Rainbow

It must be a special day when you spot a rainbow in the city!

Well, at least the DDA would like to think so. She was out with a colleague to grab lunch and on the way back to the office it started to drizzle... but much to their surprise when they were near the office building there the rainbow was, up in the sky in between the clouds.

Santa's helper

Christmas is looming near. It is a mere 6 weeks away. The DDA has joined Santa's workshop, giving extra hand on the production line. She's just produced a square patterned scarf with Italian made Rowan 'Kid Classic' yarn.

Here are a few shots of the finished product:

If you are interested in making one of your own, check out the pattern online.
